    Bu çalışmanın amacı konaklama işletmelerinde örgütsel çatışma yönetiminde yöneticilerin duygusal zeka yetenek ve yeterliliklerinin kullanılması ve bunların işgörenler tarafından algılanmasına yönelik değerlendirmelerin sonuçlarını ortaya koymaktır. Önce kavramsal çerçeve oluşturulmuş sonra işgörenlerin yöneticilerini değerlendirmelerini içeren anket çalışması yüz yüze uygulanmıştır. Tanımlayıcı ve çıkarımsal istatistiksel olarak verilerin analizi yapılarak değişkenler üç faktör altında incelenmiştir. Araştırmada kullanılan bağımlı değişkenlerle faktörlerin ilişkileri regresyon analiziyle değerlendirilerek elde edilen bulgular ortaya konulmuştur.The purpose of this study is to determine results of manager's use of emotional intelligence ability and competencies in managing organizational conflict in hospitality business and evaluations of employee perceptions of them.     The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between customer-focused selling (CFS) approaches, customers’ destination choice (DC) and decision of purchasing (DP). The secondary purpose is to examine the moderating effect of destination choice on the relationship between CFS and DP. The results indicate that all of the factors have a significant and positive relationship with each other. While the moderating effect of DC significantly influenced the relationship between the building trust and credibility, investigating the purchasing factors, offering solutions dimensions of CFS and DP. The moderating effect was insignificant with regard to the relationship between gaining agreements and building long-term relationships dimensions of CFS and DP

    Some Special Legendre Mates of Spherical Legendre Curves

    In this study, we consider some special mates of spherical Legendre curves by using Legendre frame along spherical front or frontal on Euclidean unit sphere. In this sense, we define orthogonal-type and parallel-type spherical Legendre mates. After, we get some characterizations between Legendre curvatures of orthogonal-type Legendre mates. In particularly, when spherical front is a regular curve, we give relationships between Legendre and Frenet frame or Legendre and Sabban frame. Moreover, we obtain that the evolute and the involute of spherical front correspond to a second and third orthogonal-type Legendre mate of spherical front, respectively. After, we give examples for first, second or third orthogonal-type spherical Legendre mates of some special spherical fronts or frontals. Finally, we show that there is no parallel-type Legendre mates of spherical frontal

    The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of emotional intelligence characteristics of managers on human resources selection in the accommodation enterprises. Previously questionnaire was developed from MSCEIT. Data were gathered from hotel managers with the help of a questionnaire which is conducted face to face. Data was tested with factor analysis and regression analysis on SPSS. The results of the study show that emotional intelligence characteristics of managers in the accommodation enterprises, effect on their decision of human resources selectionBu çalışmanın amacı, konaklama işletmelerinde karar merkezindeki yöneticilerin duygusal zeka (DZ) özelliklerinin insan kaynaklarının temini ve seçimi üzerindeki etkisini tespit etmektir. Bu amaçla, oluşturulan soru formunda DZ boyutlarının etkilerini ölçmek için daha önce kullanılmış, geçerliliği ve güvenirliliği sağlanmış olan MSCEIT DZ modeli örnek alınmıştır. Veriler, konaklama işletmelerinin yöneticilerinden soru formu ile toplanmıştır. Veriler faktör analizi ve regresyon analizi ile test edilmiştir.  Araştırma sonucunda konaklama işletmelerinde yöneticilerin insan kaynakları temini ve seçiminde DZ özelliklerinin karar vermede etkili olduğu tespit edilmişti

    Bacterial Thermotaxis by Speed Modulation

    One of the most important factors that affects bacterial migration and is sensitive to thermal changes is the bacterial swimming speed controlled by the rotation of the flagellar motors. In the natural habitats of bacteria, gradients often extend over relatively long distances such that their steepness is too small for bacteria to detect. We studied the bacterial behavior in such thermal gradients and found that they migrate along shallow thermal gradients due to a change in their swimming speed resulting from the effect of temperature on the intracellular pH. When nutrients are scarce the bacteria’s intracellular pH and consequently the swimming speed decreases with temperature, which causes them to drift towards the warm end of the gradient. However, when serine is added to the medium at concentrations >300M, the intracellular pH increases causing the swimming speed to increase continuously with temperature, and the bacteria to drift towards the cold end of the gradient. This directional migration is not a result of bacterial thermotaxis in the classical sense, because the steepness of the gradients is below the sensing threshold of bacteria. Nevertheless, our results show that the directional switch requires the presence of the bacterial sensing receptors which seem to be involved in regulating the intracellular pH. Additionally, it is also important to understand how thermal fluctuations and rate of thermal changes experienced by bacteria during their excursion in natural environments affect their run speed. To this end we have studied the dynamics of the bacterial flagellar motor’s speed in response to thermal fluctuations by tethering bacteria to a glass surface through their flagella. Our results show that under heavy load the response of the motor to fast linear thermal changes is instantaneous. However, when subjected to thermal fluctuations with varying frequency, they exhibit a resonant response to specific frequencies reflecting the complex internal dynamics of the motor

    The relationship between employees' silence behavior and career expectations within the scope of justice perceptionİşgörenlerin adalet algılamaları kapsamında sessizlik davranışının kariyer beklentisi ile ilişkisi

    The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of employees’ silence behavior on career expectations within scope of justice perception in ground handling business of airports. After a literature search that related to subject, a questionnaire was developed from the previous studies. Data were collected at airports in Antalya, Milas-Bodrum and Dalaman by research groups in face-to-face interviews with 497 employees and were analyzed with PASW statistical program. Firstly, the validity and reliability analysis was conducted on data. Secondly, structural and convergent validity of the data have revealed with the factor analysis. Thirdly, correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationship between independent variables (despair, insensitive, impartiality, distrust) and career expectation. Finally, it was tested using a regression analysis to determine the affects of independent variables on the factor of career expectation. As a result, research findings suggest that a significant relationship was found between three of the four independent variables (despair, impartiality, and distrust) and employees’ career expectation. Özet Bu çalışmanın amacı, havalimanı yer hizmetleri işletmelerinde işgörenlerin adalet algılaması kapsamında sessizlik davranışının kariyer beklentisi üzerindeki etkisini araştırmaktır. Konuyla ilgili önceki çalışmalardan yapılan alan yazın taramasından sonra bir anket geliştirilmiştir. Antalya, Milas-Bodrum ve Dalaman Havalimanlarında bir grup araştırmacı ile yüz yüze görüşme yöntemiyle 497 kişiden toplanan veriler PASW istatistik programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Öncelikle verilere geçerlik ve güvenirlik analiz uygulanmıştır. İkinci olarak, verilerin yapısal ve yakınsak geçerliliği faktör analizi ile ortaya konulmuştur. Üçüncü aşamada, bağımsız değişkenler (umutsuzluk, duyarsızlık, tarafsızlık ve güvensizlik) ile kariyer beklentisi arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek için korelasyon analizi yapılmıştır. Son olarak, bağımsız değişkenlerin (umutsuzluk, duyarsızlık, tarafsızlık ve güvensizlik) kariyer beklentisi faktörü üzerindeki etkisini belirmek amacıyla regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, araştırma bulguları bağımsız değişkenden üçü (umutsuzluk, tarafsızlık ve güvensizlik) ile kariyer beklentisi arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğunu ortaya çıkarmıştır

    Higher education institutions have an important role in the career planning of individuals. But, student selection examinations is the most important factor for their choosing school and directly or indirectly affect their career choices, and their expectations and satisfaction levels can cause positive or negative results. In term of 2013-2014, data for this study were collected from the students of thefourthgradestudents intourism undergraduateeducation at state universities in Turkey. The purposes of this study was to compare the academic expectations from the institutions and satisfaction levels of the students with regard to academic services provided by their university and examine the relationship between expectation and satisfaction levels of the students and their career planning. Questionnaire for this study was developed from prior research and published scales on a 5-point Likert-type which was based on three dimensions. Through conducting a face-to-face interview, a total of 583 questionnaires were collected from students. PASW was used to analyze the data that includes various statistical tools such as factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. As a result, the findings indicate that expectation and satisfaction levels have a negative correlation with each other, and these two factors have positive influence on career planning. ÖzetYükseköğretim kurumları, bireylerin kariyer planlamasında önemli bir yere sahiptir. Ancak, yükseköğretime giriş sınavının okul seçiminde en önemli faktör olarak görülmesi, bireylerin kariyer tercihlerini doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak etkilemekte ve bu durum onların beklenti ve memnuniyet düzeylerine bağlı olarak olumlu ya da olumsuz sonuçlar doğurabilmektedir. Türkiye’deki kamu üniversitelerinde 2012-2013 eğitim öğretim yılında, turizm lisans eğitimi alan dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerini kapsayan bu araştırmanın amacı, kurumlarından akademik beklentileri ile onlara sağlanan akademik hizmetlerden memnuniyet düzeylerini karşılaştırmak ve kariyer planlaması ile ilişkisini ortaya koymaktır. Konuyla ilgili literatürden yararlanılarak, beklenti, memnuniyet ve kariyer planlamasına yönelik beşli Likert türü bir anket formu oluşturulmuştur. Yüz yüze görüşme yöntemi ile 583 adet anket formu toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde PASW istatistik programı kullanılarak değişkenlere faktör analizi, korelasyon ve çoklu regresyon analizi uygulanmıştır. Sonuçta, bireylerin beklentileri ile memnuniyet düzeylerinin ters yönlü bir ilişkisi olduğu, aynı zamanda bu iki temel faktörün kariyer planlamasını etkilediği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır

    Defamiliarization through modality of discourse: Waiting for Godot

    Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot (1954) is a parody of the world following World War II. The play exemplifies the spirit of the age by using defamiliarization as a textual strategy by means of which the characters utilize epistemic modals leading their conversational exchanges to never-ending voidness and uncertainty. Therefore, this study analyses discoursal features of Waiting for Godot by focusing on modality as the primary means for a void and indecisive attitude that is created through defamiliarization. The study further exemplifies how Beckett’s use of defamiliarization foregrounds epistemic modality to create a discourse unique in his authorial path.En attendant Godot (1954), de Samuel Beckett, es una parodia del mundo posterior a la Segunda Guerra Mundial. La obra ejemplifica el espíritu de la época al utilizar la desfamiliarización como estrategia textual mediante la cual los personajes se valen de modales epistémicos que conducen sus intercambios conversacionales a un vacío e incertidumbre interminables. Por lo tanto, este estudio analiza las características discursivas de En attendant Godot centrándose en la modalidad como medio principal para una actitud vacía e indecisa que se crea a través de la desfamiliarización. El estudio ejemplifica, además, cómo el uso de Beckett de la desfamiliarización pone en primer plano la modalidad epistémica para crear un discurso único en su trayectoria autoral.En attendant Godot (1954) de Samuel Beckett est une parodie du monde de l'après-guerre.     The relationship between person-organization fit, organizational identification and work outcomes

    The purpose of this research is to analyse the relationship of person-organization fit in hotels through organizational identification, job performance, production deviance behavior, and the intention to remain. To achieve this, first the literature was consulted to provide a conceptual model. Through conducting a face-to-face interview, a total of 582 questionnaires were collected from employees who were full-time employees of the five-star hotels operating within the Mugla region of Turkey. The data obtained from the survey was analysed via the statistics program; within this explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed within the framework of Structural Equation Modelling. The study concluded and identified, that external factors, namely “person-organization fit”, have an effect on internal factors such as “organizational identification”, “job performance”, “production deviance” and the “intention to remain”. The empirical results indicate that person-organization fit has a significant and positive influence on organizational identification, job performance and intention to remain, while has a significant and negative influence on production deviance behavior. The results also indicate that the organizational identification has an important effect on job performance, intention to remain and production deviance behavior
